I’m going to make your Friday even happier! Today is the start of Toronto’s Bourbon week. And if you are a fellow Bourbon lover, you know that this feels just like Christmas, warm smooth Christmas. Our fantastic city will be having 13 events in different venues within 7 days so you best get ready! For your convenience, I have scoured the internet for information on where things are going down.
Friday, November 14 – Fingers and Bones at the Indie Alehouse
This Dundas and Keele pub will be hosting a night of a messy ribs ($19) and wings ($15) night drenched in (you guessed it) bourbon sauce. There will even be bourbon infused desserts (yasss). In addition, Indie Alehouse will also have special bourbon and barrell aged beer flights to complement the food. Everything about this sounds delicious.
Friday, November 14 – Straight, No Chasers at the Monarch Tavern
For the second time, Monarch Tavern will be hosting a night of the best combination of Bourbon and Jazz. Jazz artist Scott Marshall will be playing music to your ears while their bourbon flight of four 1/2 oz will be caressing your taste buds. Doors open at 8pm and the show starts at 9pm. Tickets at $20 for both the show and the tasting. You can reserve by emailing The Monarch.
Saturday, November 15 – Blood and Bandages at the County General East
The County General is a newcomer this year and they will be featuring an exclusive cocktail with their food specials. There will be no admission fee and the specials will be served from 6pm onwards. If there’s any reason to head out east, Bourbon week is probably the best one.
Saturday, November 15 – Flight of the Woodfords at Linwood Essentials
Linwood will be hosting a late night event starting from 9pm onwards. They will be featuring Kentucky distillery Woodford Reseve (be still my heart). There will be a special menu of 3 cocktails crafted with Woodford. And the best part, you can try the full flight of three for $20, or two for $15! I love a good deal!
Sunday, November 16 – Bourbon Brunch at Insomnia Cafe
What!? Brunch and Bourbon together? You will break me. Insomnia cafe continues to make me happy by featuring a brunch that consist of two food and bourbon courses:
The first course will be Bourbon Braised Brisket Benedict paired with a “Buffalo Formula”
In-House 5-Week Cask Aged Manhattan (aged in-house exclusively for Toronto Bourbon Week and made with Buffalo Trace),
And the second course of Fried Chicken & Waffles with Bourbon Brown Butter and Bourbon Baked Beans,
paired with Old Ezra’s Frozen Custard Float (consisting of Ezra Brooks Bourbon, House Frozen Vanilla Custard & Root Beer).
*Brunch will run from 3-5pm and you should probably purchase tickets ahead of time*
Sunday, November 16 – Hot Bourbon’d Soul at the College Street Bar
The College Street Bar will be having a special Bourbon week party on Sunday with live music from ThaHookup! and when you get thirsty from all that dancing, Bourbon Sours are $7 all night long!
Monday, November 17 – Golden, Brown, and Delicious at the Carbon Bar
From 6pm and onwards, Carbon Bar’s entire Bourbon menu will be 50% off. Are they for real? This is dangerous, I recommend writing your home address on your arm.
Tuesday, November 18 – Bourbon Discovery Dinner at Jump Restaurant
If you are looking to fine dine your fine ass, you may head over to Jump. On Tuesday, Chef Rhian Rodrigues will be creating a one-of-a-kind four course menu and will be pairing bourbon drinks with bourbon-infused dishes. With a four course dinner, five cocktails, and gratuity – $92 dollars is well worth it.
Tuesday, November 18 – Bourbon on the Danforth at Sauce
If you live near the Danforth, fret not because Bourbon week have infiltrated your neighbourhood as well. Sauce will be featuring a special à la carte New Orleans-themed menu including Flights of 3 Bourbons for $20! Remember, bourbon is a good way to warm up for your walk home.
Wednesday, November 19 – Barrel Aged Beers & The Bourbons Who Love Them at BarHop
This year, Barhop joins Bourbon Week and we could not be any more excited! Three rare Ontario bourbon barrel aged beers will be paired with the brand of bourbon that the barrel originally held. Their tasting menu will be paired with food items. Each dish will be priced at $8. I will be there and I’m hoping you will too!
Wednesday, November 19 – Triple B & Q at Triple A Bar
Starting at 9pm, Triple A will be pairing their famous BBQs with a flight of bourbon. For $35, you’ll be able to choose three 1 oz samples from five ‘B’ bourbons: Booker’s, Basil Hayden, Blanton’s, Buffalo Trace and Bulleit, paired with AAA’s Texas Smoke Brisket, smoked on oak for 14 hours with a salt-and-pepper dry rub. Jesus Almighty, if this doesn’t convince you to go out on a Wednesday night, I dont know what will.
Thursday, November 20 – The Bobby Boucher at the County General West
All Southern peaches are welcome on Bourbon Week’s closing day, The CGW will be hosting a fun event where they will be mixing twists on the original Bobby Burns cocktail (made with Wild Turkey 81 Bourbon, Sweet Vermouth, Cherry Heering, Benedictine, Cherry Masala Chai Bitters & Orange Oils). Not to be forgotten, they will also be serving MmmMama Says Duck Wings (Confit Duck Wing, Bourbon Honey Glaze & Bayou Bourbon Cherries). Both for only $14! #forreal
Thursday, November 20 – The Bourbon Derby at 3030 Dundas West
3030 D is letting you choose from three bourbon flight from a ‘field’ of 20 specially hand-picked for Bourbon Week’s closing night. You will also be granted access to a special a la carte menu created especially for the Bourbon Derby. But that’s not all! 3030 D will also feature live music from the band Young Running from 8-10pm. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased here.
And in true derby fashion, you will be able to vote for your favorite Bourbon that night! Are you ready? It’s going to be a long week!
