It’s been a lengthy summer. The weather lulled me into a dreamy state where it felt like I slept walked these past three months and the month of August feels like a hangover from overnapping. If there was someone who needed a full dose of Rock n’ Roll more than anyone in Toronto, I’m convinced it was me. And Rock n’ Rolled I got!
A few weeks ago at the Rivoli, SATE slapped me in the face with the dirtiest funk, throbbing keys, sexiest vocals and suddenly… I was alive again.
The venue was dim and loud and I honestly didn’t have a clue what this interview was going to be like. I’ve been working on “going with the flow” this month – a lofty goal for a Virgo. I didn’t want to craft questions to build an article around it. I wanted this night to be much more than an blog assignment – I wanted it to be an experience.
My chat with Sate was brief but packed a punch. She was humble but ferocious; calm but radiated so much power. We talked about the experience of having her fans choose the tracks on her upcoming EP and using music to empower the crowds – and it shows on her track Warrior. Listen below; it’s contagious!
Sate entered the stage and the frenzy started. I quickly drank my rye and ginger because I need all my limbs to dance to this music. The band performed their hearts out and it made me wonder why they’re not performing at bigger venue for a much bigger crowd – they’re incredible!
My wish early on in the night came true – my first Sate concert was nothing short of an amazing experience. Her music: dirty, sexy, bold, kick you in the gut type of passionate!
Trust me, you need to get Sated.
