Welcome to another one of Shiela’s Thursday Thoughts: It’s the part of the week when she may or may not be hungover and just need to get these thoughts out in order to function.
I had a big night last night due to sweet serendipity – we found out that Luma has $5 cocktails all night long but there’s something I’d like to discuss.
I just found out about a new thing called “Bread crumbing”. Apparently its a new tactic that is very similar but a step higher than “Ghosting”.
It’s defined as “the act of sending out flirtatious, but non-committal text messages (ie “breadcrumbs”) in order to lure a sexual partner without expending much effort,” BASICALLY leading them on with little crumbs of text messages, sporadic Instagram likes, inconsistent selfies, etc. Just enough to keep you in the net but not too much that the relationship actually moves forward.
Yes, this is a real thing – The New York Times wrote about it.
Sometimes dating gives me real heartburn. Do we really need more games in order to let each other know how little effort we’re willing to dish out? This is so frustrating, and I have a headache, and my office is too bright, and I just can’t deal with this at this time.
If you’re getting crumbed right now – refuse to perpetuate this type of behavior. Beyonce is pregnant with twins, therefore we must promote positivity for the benefit of the next generation.
And if you’re bread crumbing somebody – have a blessed day!
